Journey June 2020 is an art challenge hosted on Instagram by @galvosaur. For one month aspiring narrative artists complete prompts to produce the bones of a comic by following 'The Hero's Journey'.
In 2019 I attempted the challenge. My goals for the 2020 project were to push to the finish and explore storyboarding and narrative technique.
Everyday day of June I improvised the next beat of the story. Below are the uninterrupted panels.
You may notice how the style of the images change as I wrangle with speed, efficiency and clarity,
and so, this is where Soju's journey ended along with the month of June. I did have some idea of how the narrative would conclude. Even though I didn't get there, I was proud of what I had achieved and hope to one day revisit this comic and turn it into a fully fledged book.
